New Jersey Is One Of The Safest States For Fourth Of July

We’re gearing up for America’s 250th birthday, but we should step back to ask if we’re doing it safely.

Firework injuries, pool incidents, and common injuries like bruises, burns, and cuts all typically contribute to Emergency Room visits over the course of the Fourth of July weekend.

It’s expected that around 45,000 Americans will end up in emergency rooms during the holiday, with the main cause of injuries being fireworks.

All of this in mind, the experts at Nursa have revealed the most dangerous states to spend Independence Day.

They looked at factors like unintentional fatal injuries, alcohol consumption, driving fatalities, car accidents, fires, and arrests to determine which areas of the U.S. go a little too hard for our nation’s birthday.

The absolute most dangerous state is North Dakota, followed by Montana and South Dakota.

Word to the wise: don’t go to either of the Dakotas for the Fourth. Apparently, it’s pretty dicey.

As for us in the Garden State, we are pretty safe when it comes to our Independence Day celebrations.

We have the fourth-lowest rate of driving fatalities involving alcohol at just 23.4%, compared to North Dakota with 46.7%.

Car accidents during the month of July dropped by 21% compared to the average month in New Jersey, compared to the American average of a 12.7% increase in July accidents.

We also have low unintentional fatal injury rates.

After New Jersey, the safest states for celebrating the Fourth of July are Georgia, New York, and Massachusetts.

However you’re spending your Fourth of July weekend, do it safely.
